Pachypodium is a genus of succulent spine-bearing trees and shrubs, native to Africa. It belongs to the dogbane family, Apocynaceae. This is a very rare, tiny succulent dwarf shrub known only from a small location on the Mania river on the central plateau in southern central Madagascar. It has thick, very short, sparsely spiny and profusely branching shoots, each of which holds a small tuft of oval leaves. The trumpet-shaped flowers are creamy white and held on short stalks.
